This carpet, commonly referred to as "Sultani," features a Turkish-inspired pattern and is crafted by Turkmen weavers in Northern Afghanistan. It was commissioned by a Turkish dealer to take advantage of the region's lower labor costs. Made from 100% hand-spun sheep wool, the carpet utilizes a blend of vegetable and chemical dyes. The double-knot weaving technique employed ensures its durability, making it suitable for high-traffic areas. The pattern's name honors the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, who played a significant role in promoting the art of carpet weaving.
